Our tours are organized and escorted by Pleasurebent Tours of Tucson. Green Valley Recreation has had a long term and very positive relationship with Pleasurebent Tours. Our tours leave from Desert Hills Social Center upper parking lot at the advertised time. The tours can be purchased at any Major Social Center office or online. The tour fee includes motor coach transportation, tour director, admissions, advertised meal (tax and tip) and driver tip. Because of the necessity of the tour company to pre-arrange and pre-pay for bus accommodations, admission tickets and meals, no refunds will be issued after the cancellation date stated on the reservation confirmation. All trips are open to GVR Members and their guests. You may register at any GVR Major Center

5/20 Tuesday: Scottsdale Culinary Institute and Phoenix Art Museum Tour
It’s no secret that travelers love to eat good food – come along with us and discover a great culinary experience and also visit the wonderful Phoenix Art Museum! The Scottsdale Culinary Institute offers a wonderful multi-course lunch at their L’ecole Restaurant. Prepared and served by the students, this is indeed a delightful culinary experience. We then visit the Phoenix Art Museum and of special interest is an exhibition entitled “Passport to Europe: Six Centuries of Treasures from Museo de Arte de Ponce” Philanthropist Luis A Ferre founded the Museo de Arte de Ponce over forty years ago and he sought to acquire a well rounded and timeless collection. During its closure for renovation the Museo has offered a traveling exhibition of the masterworks in their collection. Traveling in this splendid exhibition are over fifty paintings which include works by Luca de Tomme, Anthony van Dyck, Francisco de Goya and Dante Gabriel Rosetti. This is a special exhibition indeed. Also available for our inspection will be Human Nature – photographs of Barbara Bosworth and The Chado Ralph Rucci fashion design clothing exhibition. Come along and quench your hunger for good food and fine art. $85 for GVR Members and $90 for Guests. Fee includes transportation, lunch, and admission to museum and tour director. 6/5 Thursday: Kitt Peak National Observatory Nighttime Tour
Travel with us to Kitt Peak National Observatory, located at 7,000’ in the Quinlan Mountains, for this very special evening. We begin our tour with a stop at their Visitor Center where we will examine the exhibits that describe this national observatory and other interesting topics. We enjoy a light meal and then an introduction to astronomy and the night sky will be given by a docent. Next, we learn how to find stars and the constellations in the sky. Once we are outdoors we will explore the night skies and view them with high-powered binoculars. Then we enter one of the domes to view through a telescope and observe the heavens in all of its grandeur. Come along and discover your universe. If you’ve never participated in one of the night-time Kitt Peak programs before you are in for a very pleasant surprise. Good walking shoes and a jacket are highly recommended. (In case of inclement weather we reserve the right to insert an alternate astronomy program presented by Kitt Peak.) $77 GVR Members and $82 Guests. 7/22 Tuesday: Arizona Diamondbacks vs Chicago Cubs
Join us for a ballgame and cheer on the Diamondbacks. We have reserved seats for this evening game at the Chase Ballpark in downtown Phoenix. This state-of-the-art stadium, which is enclosed and air-conditioned, is home to the major league baseball team; the Arizona Diamondbacks. Come root for the home team, grab a hot dog, check out the ballpark and have a great time! With players on the roster like Randy Johnson, Brandon Webb and Eric Byrnes who knows what will be in store for this season. A game against the Chicago Cubs always proves to be exciting. No parking hassles – just a good old-fashioned evening. $75 GVR Members, $80 guests. Fee includes transportation, tickets (seats located on the lower level section 112), and tour director.
