Closures, LOST AND FOUND, Info hub, and code of conduct

Closures

  • Casa Paloma II shuffleboard courts are closed during court resurfacing from Monday, March 24 to Monday, March 31.
  • Casa Paloma I locker rooms are closed on Tuesday, April 1 from 9-10:30am due to HVAC installation.
  • The Canoa Hills picnic area is closed April 7-30 for grass reseeding.
  • The Desert Hills lobby restrooms Desert Hills close for renovations on April 7 and tentatively reopen May 5. Lower-level washrooms/locker rooms located near the pool entrance gate remain open. For added convenience, there will be two porta-potties on the upper-level area just outside the archway entrance. When the restrooms are finished, work on the locker room renovation and ceramics kiln room expansion will begin. 

  • The GVR Artisans’ Shop closes from April 7 through the end of May for the expansion project.

Lightning and Pool Closures

GVR follows the National Safety Institute’s guidelines by closing pools and clearing pool decks whenever lightning is detected within five miles. The information can be found in the Corporate Policy Manual (CPM):

1.2.8 Special Uses, E. GVR Pool Management Policies

  • GVR pools shall operate in compliance with Pima County Code Title 8, Chapter 8.322, Swimming Pool and Spas,” and any other applicable Pima County regulations.
  • GVR staff has authority to close a swimming pool or spa if they determine that its operation and use presents danger to individuals.
  • GVR follows the guidelines provided by the National Lightning Safety Institute (NLSI) to determine when to close indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and spas as a safety precaution. Per NLSI guidelines:
    • Both outdoor and indoor pools will be evacuated before or when lightning is within five miles.
    • At the first signs of thunder or lightning occurring within five miles of an aquatic facility, all pool decks will close until 30 minutes after the last observed thunder or lightning.

Lost and Found

GVR West Center Box Office at 1111 GVR Drive, 520-625-0288 (Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm)

Lost Something? We might have it. High-value items like jewelry, wallets, and electronics have been turned in and are waiting to be claimed. Valuables are held at the Box Office for 60 days. Everyday items such as towels and water bottles are held at the center where they were left behind, then donated after two weeks. Hygiene items and supplies are discarded. All donations go to the White Elephant.

GVR Code of Conduct

It is the policy of GVR to treat all people with dignity, respect and equality regardless of age, race, color, ancestry, country of origin, disability, ethnicity, marital status, family status, veteran status, gender, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.

  1. Users of GVR facilities are required to comply with GVR-published rules and regulations.
  2. Users are expected to show common courtesy to employees, Directors, volunteers, and other members and guests.
  3. Users shall refrain from using offensive language and behavior.
  4. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
  5. Violation of the above codes of conduct may result in a member having his/her rights and privileges suspended, as well as those of their guests or tenants.
